Suspect in Teen Beating Accepts Plea Deal:

Mercades Nichols has accepted a plea deal in the video recorded beating of Victoria Lindsay. According to the terms of the plea Nichols faces up to three years probation, 100 hours of community service, she must write a letter of apology to Victoria, and she can not profit from the media. Also under the plea prosecutors agreed to drop the kidnapping charge which carries a life sentence.

If you’ll recall prosecutors said that they would only offer Nichols the deal if co-defendant Brittini Hardcastle also accepted a deal. She’s expected to take a plea deal on Feb. 4th.

Ok…I am a little confused…did I read this correctly? BM may get 1 year prison, be it juvenile or Adult and MN would get probation. I think both punishments are too leniant, but who am I?…Just the general public, why should I have a say in the matter?,
The good news is, when they break the law again by stealing, murder or whatever, they could use the same bloody letter of apology!!!!! Just change the name. Dear … , i am so sorry, i just don’t know what came over me, blah, blah, blah and it will never happen again. OMG!! Can anyone help and explain to me in english what the hell is wrong with the SAO in FL???, I mean c’mon…its videotaped!!!!!

Mark, it seems the prosecution have arranged with the defense to play a little joke on us. The adult charges were there to appease public opinion and win popularity contests for the sheriff when he needed to get reelected to office. If you read the thread on Lakeland Topix “Audio Terrorism” you will see the kind of quality of life issues that concern people in Lakeland and read their complaints about police inaction on such matters. Without the video, people would have been focusing on these issues and blaming the sheriff fro their problems with noise and traffic. The video was a real gift to the sheriff and enabled him to look tough without actually accomplishing anything toward solving the everyday problems of local citizens. Now that the election is over, the authorities think it is safe to drop the beating case and hope that public outrage will fade away. People will go back to complaining about loud car stereos but that’s no problem because by the time the next election comes around, there will be another sensational high profile case to distract people.

Still, I wonder if there will come a point when the public outrage will boil over and people will react vigorously against the cynicism of the people in power. Perhaps we have already reached that point with this case, now that the video has been seen around the world and demonstrated the ability to arouse angry passions and we may yet see a resurgence of public calls for retributive justice. If the perpetrators gloat and celebrate, the outrage may return with renewed strength. If however at least some of them can show true repentance, they may yet take their place in decent society. We will see.

It just seems that justice, these days seem to be on the side of the criminals. Just yesterday, in broad daylight, I was almost carjacked by teens. They know the law, insomuch of its lack of bite. I guess my general question would be, why should criminals care if there are no cosequences to thier actions? These 8 inviduals have demonsrated devient actions before, 9 including VL.

Mark, the SAO in Florida sucks and I think everyone knows that by now. The cimes against Victoeia Lindsay were caught on video but in th endn that didn’t even matter.

And yes Mark justice is on the side of the criminals these days. There is no doubt about it.

Mercades Nichols got a nice deal from the SAO. She could not turn that down and go to trial. And from what I hear the Lindsay’s helped all the defendant’s out as far as sentecing goes. That was nice of them considering how good the defendnats were to Victoria. )

Everything is going as predicted, nothing new to see here.

It’s time to enroll your daughter in martial arts academy and then them how to use improvised weapons.

The moral of this story is that if you jump someone and tape it, you can get away with no jailtime. It also means we will be seeing video tapes of these sorts of fights being sold, it’s a new industry now. And since we are entering a sort of depression, anything can make money when people are desperate.

Mark justice has always been on the side of the criminals. In the time of slavery it was on the of these people, all through the 30s-40s-50s-60s when women and minorities didnt have rights, justice was on the side of these people.

Justice is always on the side of the mighty, might is right, cash is king. This means if you are wealthy, justice is on your side because you are strong. If you aren’t wealthy there will be no justice for you.

A lot of the problems come from the fact that many good people choose poverty. If you chose poverty, then you selected that position. Furthermore, if you aren’t wealthy the only other way to get respect is to be a warrior/gangmember, if you choose not to enlist or join a gang, it’s just like how it is in prison, nobody will respect you unless you have rank in their gang, or in law enforcement.

Encourage your daughter to become a cop, encourage your son to enlist, or become wealthy, otherwise you’ll be bullied. It ultimately is about how much influence you have, and to protect your children you need as much influence as possible.

I minored in history, if you look at the history of the western civ, it was ALWAYS this way. In specific look at the feudal period, you’ll understand a lot if you understand this period.

There were classes, you had peasants which are the people with no power whatsover, these defenseless people are commonly treated as cattle. Ask PETA how cattle is treated.

You had the warriors/law enforcement class, these people enforce the laws of the mighty. These people include all enforcers, public government militia/police types, knights, but also mafia and gang member types, and Shogun/Samurai types. They follow a chain of command and they do all the killing and bullying, arresting and torturing.

You then have the religious class, these are your priests, you have the Ghandi’s, MLKs, but also the Haggards, and false prophets. They have enforcers as well, who enforce Gods law. They have holy warriors, who will kill themselves to kill non believers and kill you if you try to change their world social order. These types tend to be religiously conservative and are God’s actors and actresses.

You have also the ruling class, these people were the kings and queens, the rulers of the senate, the emperors of rome, the tribal chiefs, these people basically make laws, the lawmaking class.

This basically sums it up. The only extra class might be the Barons of industry, these are people who basically get lucky enough to make billions. A lot of these types are obsessed with making money to the point that they’d sell their own mother, or their daughter for a profit.

By understanding history and sociology you can see that human life does not change over a period of hundreds of years, but over thousands.
What changes are perhaps the names of the titles, like chief became boss, but there are still chiefs. Warrior/Knight became cop/soldier/thug.

It doesnt matter what we call them, their roles continue to exist. In some ways its actually getting worse, theres more people now and everyone wants to be a chief, baron or soldier, nobody wants to be a peasant. So the competition is more fierce than ever.

The good news is we do have hollywood, so if you are funny, can dance, and keep people entertained, you can go from peasant to prospect to baron without selling your mother and daughter.

Interesting point Greg about how poor people try to gain respect by becoming a gang member. I am sure it’s true. Sad but true. And this folly of an assault case is sad but true.
