Poll: Craigslist needs no more regulation:

Craigslist needs no further monitoring or constraints — whether internal or external. It’s a self-regulated open forum, not culpable for the illegal activity of its users.

That’s the sentiment of most respondents in the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal’s latest Business Pulse Survey; 55 percent of those who responded said Craigslist need not do more to prevent use of its ads for illegal activity such as prostitution, while 44 percent said otherwise. The poll was conducted May 12 through May 19.

Of course, most of Silicon Valley is going to say that. craigslist has always been the darling of the tech elite. (In my bleeding heart voice) “Oh it’s so open and free isn’t it beautiful?” I bet most of those polled probably thought that the erotic services section was ok the way it was.

Why not poll an area that isn’t one of craigslist’s favored areas? I bet the results would be a lot different.
