Medical examiner testifies another scenario of Randolph girl’s killing possible, but not probable:

Today former Bergen County coroner Sunandan Singh testified to the jury today that he believes that both Zarate brothers killed Jennifer Parks as I mentioned in yesterday’s post.

Defense attorney Joseph Ferrante tried casting doubt on Singh’s supposition asking if the wounds that Jennifer received could have been inflicted by just one person, i.e. Jonathan Zarate. Singh said that was not possible. However, Singh did say that he did not come to the conclusion that both brothers killed Jennifer at the time of her autopsy. Under questioning from Ferrante, he said he did not come to that conclusion until 2008 when reviewing photos from the autopsy. At that time he said he also came to the conclusion that Jennifer was still alive when they tried to amputate her legs at the thigh.

Ferrante asked, “How did you miss that, when it was right there in front of you” during the autopsy, and Singh said, “I don’t know. I have no idea how I missed that.”

Unfortunately, that sounds like it could be reasonable doubt to me.

The trial continues Monday.
