Men Lured Into Sting For Sex With ‘Teen’:

The Washington Post is reporting that 17 men have been arrested in an online sting that involved both craigslist and MySpace. The article doesn’t say if this was a national operation or a D.C. area one but it snagged someone as far away as Ohio.

How the sting worked was law enforcement posted an ad on craigslist as a female soliciting sex. Respondents to the ad were then directed to a MySpace where they were allegedly told that the female in question was 16. The more I think about it the more I think this was a regional sting since the age of consent is 16 in a lot of states. Unless this was a child prostitution sting which again the article doesn’t indicate.

This just indicates to me that the anonymity problem on craigslist is still alive and well if guys think they can get away with soliciting a child.
