SoCal teen pleads not guilty in student’s slaying:

Last week E.O. Green Junior High gunman Brandon McInerney pleaded not guilty in the shooting death of classmate Lawrence King.

The then 14-year-old McInerney allegedly shot the 15-year-old King because King was openly gay and flirted with McInerney as a defense against McInerney’s bullying of King.

If they go to trial McInerney is looking at a 53 to life sentence since he was charged as an adult. If he pleas out, prosecutors said they’d be willing to reduce the sentence to 25 to life.

The trial is set for 12/1.
