Jacques’ lawyers continue to fight death sentence:
The lawyers for ‘alleged’ child-raping and killing scumbag Michael Jacques are once again delaying this trial more by again trying to argue the death penalty in this case.
Their first argument is that communicating with his victim and niece Brooke Bennett does not constitute an interstate crime. I disagree.
When you communicate with someone on MySpace it doesn’t go straight from your computer to theirs. It goes first to the MySpace servers which I believe are in California then goes to the recipient’s computer when they access their MySpace. That sounds like the definition of Interstate to me.
Secondly, they are arguing that if Jacques is given the death penalty that this will make all federal kidnapping cases eligible for the death penalty. I think they’re conveniently leaving out that this was a kidnapping that resulted in the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl. I don’t think federal prosecutors would all of a sudden go death penalty crazy on every kidnapping case just because this child-killing scumbag gets executed for his crimes.
The only reason Jacques’ attorneys took this case is that they are anti-death penalty. And it seems like they’ll desecrate the memory of Brooke Bennett in order to do it.
