Connellsville man gets 2-4 years for sex with teen:

25-year-old Dean Allen Barnhart of Connellsville, PA was arrested last year for having sex, child rape in my book, for having sex multiple times with a 14-year-old girl that he met through MySpace. The girl’s age was listed publicly on her MySpace but Barnhart told her to keep it on the down-low.

In May Barnhart was convicted of aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault.

He was only sentenced to 2-4 years in prison and 10 years on the sex offender registry.

If you really want to protect the children these sentences need to be made stiffer. And as we all know the sex offender registry does not stop offenders from re-offending.

    FIRST and foremost.. I do not agree with adults having inappropriate relationships with minors. But as a FAMILY MEMBER of the accused, whom was present within the trial..first GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!…The minors age was NOT posted truthfully at the time, as we all know you can make yourself whatever age u want to be on “myspace”. It was admitted in front of my face, and 12 jurors by this underage girl that she in fact LIED about her age.I think this is an unfortunate situation that can happen to ANY innocent guy, and potentially destroy their life. IN MY OPINION…parents need to keep a closer eye on what their teenage daughters, and sons are posting as far as their age. PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!

    Even if the girl lied and said she was of the legal age to have sex (16? 17?), what’s a 24 year old guy doing dating a 16 or 17 year old?

    Sounds to me like he was trolling for young bait to begin with.

      I Know the situation….HE wasnt looking for anyone…she was…she started the conversation on Myspace..he didnt…she showed up at a party he was at…she was there with her cousin who also clamed she was over age..SHE climbed into his bed…SHE spent the night..WHERE the hell was her PARENTS? Latest news….SHES PREGNANT TO ANOTHERMAN…was charges filed against him? hell no..they Like him..how sad people are punished for what some young girls do

        It doesn’t matter who started the conversation. He had sex with a 14-year-old multiple times. So he gets to go to jail.

        If her parents weren’t keeping an eye on her then they should go to jail too in my opinion.
