For those of who you who don’t know the story of Michael Jacques I’ll recap.

He’s a convicted sex offender who was let out of prison early because he completed Vermont’s sex offender ‘rehabilitation’ program. I use the sarcasm quotes because his ‘rehabilitation’ obviously didn’t stop him from allegedly kidnapping, raping and killing his 12-year-old niece by marriage, Brooke Bennett, in 2008.

Jacques came to my attention because not only did he allegedly use MySpace to groom his niece but he also manipulated Brooke’s MySpace to make it look like she ran away.

Vermont doesn’t have the death penalty but he’s being tried in federal court and federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. A pair of ant-death penalty lawyers have taken up Jacques’ cause and have done nothing but delay Jacques’ trial. Now they’ve gotten the judge to push the trial back to September of 2011. More than 3 years after Brooke’s brutal rape and murder.

They’re also trying to get the trial moved to New York State as well. In my opinion, what they’re trying to do is to delay the trial as long as possible so potential jurors will have let go of some of their anger over what happened to Brooke. But once the jury from any state hears what this pedophile scumbag did to his own niece the anger will come flooding back and hopefully Jacques will have an appointment with the executioner.
