Criminals are idiots. I know that goes without saying but some are more idiotic than others. They come up with schemes that sound like a made-up story from an 8-year-old that they think could actually fool law enforcement.

Take Michael Jacques for example. As you may know, Jacques is accused of the kidnapping, rape, and murder of his 12-year-old niece through marriage, Brooke Bennett. It seems that he allegedly came up with a scheme to try to get suspicion off of him while he was in prison.

Documents just released recently show that Jacques instructed a friend of his to send e-mails to various parties including law enforcement that Brooke was actually killed by a cabal of child molesters run by a mysterious figure known only as Candyman. It turns out that the ‘friend’ was in league with the feds but I don’t think it would have taken them long to figure out that Jacques would have been behind the hoax. Think of the worst episode of crime drama on TV then multiply it by 100 and then you get the likelihood of Jacques actually diverting suspicion off himself.

Then again I guess a child molesting scumbag that’s facing the death penalty would try anything.
