The Camden Waterfront
The Camden Waterfront

This is a follow-up to the post I made about the city of Camden, New Jersey laying off a lot of police and firefighters.

It turns out the reason for that is that 58% of Camden properties are tax-exempt for one reason or another. That’s not something I don’t think you can ever recover from.

Taxpaying citizens are not going to moving into Camden anytime soon and I think the Waterfront renovations have been a bust since day one.

Camden is a lost cause. It should be declared a permanent disaster area. If the state had any guts they’d take over the city and declare martial law. That would only be a small step in trying to make sure Camden doesn’t become another Detroit.
