39-year-old Francis Murphy was the athletic director at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pennsylvania. He was recently arrested for soliciting sex over Facebook from an 11th-grade student of the school.

The student was leaving for another school when he approached Murphy on Facebook to help him get some things from his locker. Allegedly Murphy’s response was suggestive in nature and told the boy that he wanted to be his ‘sugar daddy’.

When the student responded to Murphy in anger Murphy’s alleged response was…

“We should try it out. See how you like. I will hook you up. Must stay between us,”

Thankfully the student didn’t fall for it and told his parents who in return contacted police. Police then posed as the boy on Facebook and arrested Murphy at an ice cream store where Murphy believed he was meeting the boy.

This is yet another black eye for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia that has been rocked in recent months with allegations of child-molesting priests. Also since Murphy has been a coach at different schools I would imagine that this boy could not be his first victim.

While I continually preach about the dangers of online predators your child is more likely to be molested or solicited by someone they know. I’m not trying to be a fear-monger but it never hurts to be careful.
