I originally posted about Richard Sabatasse here and here. He was the Pennsylvania man who was accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl that he met on MySpace. His basic defense was that the girl said she was 19 and he really pushed that defense.
That was until this past Monday where he pleaded no contest to charges of involuntary deviate intercourse, statutory sexual assault, and furnishing liquor to minors. Pleading no contest isn’t pleading guilty. It means that you know that prosecutors have a strong enough case to convict you. As part of the plea deal *spit* prosecutors dropped charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment.
No word on what his sentence could be but he is scheduled to be sentenced this coming Monday.
According to previous reports Sabatasse allegedly held the girl against her will, took her to a bar in West Virginia and even took her cell phone so she couldn’t contact anyone when she wanted to go home. This creep should have been looking at a life sentence for kidnapping a minor and crossing state lines. Now he’ll probably get some form of a laughable sentence.
UPDATE 6/23/2011: I was right. He only got 5 to 10.
that little girl wasnt his only victim just so everyone nos that
