Pimp of hooker slain by serial killer pleads guilty:

The last time I posted about Akeem Cruz it was early on in the disappearance of Megan Waterman. Cruz was Waterman’s boyfriend/pimp and had turned her out in New York on craigslist. At first, I assumed that Cruz had something to do with Megan’s disappearance. Considering the violent nature of pimps one could see why I would think that. 99 times I would be right in that assumption but not this time. It turned out that Megan was one of the victims of the Long Island serial killer who has yet to be caught.

That’s not to say that Cruz is a choir boy. Cruz recently pleaded guilty to charges of human trafficking. He admitted to transporting Megan and another woman from Maine to New York for the purposes of prostitution. The terms of the plea deal say that he’s only looking at a little less than 4 years in federal prison. Another joke sentence that does nothing to combat human trafficking.

Fear not though. Cruz is more than likely a career criminal who will end up doing real time eventually. Unfortunately, that will probably come at the expense of another victim.
