Iowa man charged with kidnapping and rape of girl he met on Kik

Daniel Lee Ward

29-year-old Daniel Lee Ward of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, has been charged in the kidnapping and rape of a 13-year-old girl that he met through the smartphone instant messaging app Kik.

Messaging his victim through Kik he allegedly convinced the girl to sneak out of the house. Then Ward drove his victim to a park in Carlisle, Iowa.

The victim told Ward “I don’t want to do this,” according to police records.

Ward locked the doors to the vehicle, tore the victim’s pants off by breaking the zipper and “then forced sexual intercourse on the victim,” according to reports.

To the kids on Kik, treat your user ID like your cell phone number. You wouldn’t give it out to just anybody, would you?

Also to the parents of kids, as I’ve said before know what apps your kids are using, know who their friends on their friends list are, and most importantly educate yourself on how to check the phone and block any unwanted apps, Google is your friend. If you don’t learn the tricks guys like this could be potentially targeting your kids.
