Why you shouldn’t let your 12-year-old on Snapchat

The father of a 12-year-old girl has taken to the local media to warn others about what his daughter went through. The girl was approached by a man on Snapchat who attempted to coerce the girl into sending explicit photos of her.

“She’s just distraught, my daughter is usually just a little ray of sunshine, and she is sobbing,” the victim’s father described his daughter’s reaction to someone sending her a photo of a young girl, naked from chin to torso.

“It felt like rape. That’s what it felt like to me. I’m a dad to a son and a daughter, and in that moment, [it felt like] this is a rape victim because someone halfway across the world touched her on the internet,” he exclaimed.

While some parents may think that Snapchat is harmless with its cutesy filters, it can also be a predator’s window to your children if they’re left to use it unattended.
