I never thought I would be posting a story about MySpace in 2017, yet here we are.
Anyway, 32-year-old David Francisco Pena, was recently arrested in Gulfport, Mississippi, after being on the run for three years. Pena was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a Juvenile in 2009, after he took a girl he met on MySpace from Nebraska to his home in Texas. Pena spent some time in prison and was paroled in 2010 then was ordered to register as a sex offender. Police were looking for Pena for the past three years after he allegedly fled supervision in 2014.
As I’ve said before, the only thing the sex offender registry does well is to let you know where registered sex offenders live in your area. It does nothing to dissuade all the unregistered ones from committing crimes.
It’s never too late to be caught! I didn’t think anyone was using MySpace at all anymore.

He probably stopped using it when he was arrested in 2008. That sounds about right for the time.
