Shooting at Florida high school leaves 17 dead (UPDATES ONGOING)

UPDATE 7:10 PM CT: The Daily Mail is hinting that Cruz had some kind of history of animal abuse. While it wouldn’t surprise me in the least, I’d like to see further confirmation on this.

UPDATE Oh FFS: Fox News is saying that Cruz has ISIS connections. That’s funny for a supposed ISIS guy who posted the following on Instagram…

In 2015, he posted a screenshot of a Google search for the phrase, “what does allahu akbar.” He then wrote a caption that included an anti-Muslim slur, “Well at least we now know what it means when a sand durka says “allahu Akbar” ??????”

UPDATE 6:35 PM CT: On my Twitter account, I said that the trigger babies on Twitter are probably going to fawn all over this assclown since he was taken into custody. See here about their admiration of Aurora theater gunman James Holmes. Now, BuzzFeed is reporting that Cruz complained about bullying and talked about guns a lot. Before the pearl clutching bullying criers go to give him milk and cookies, BuzzFeed also says that Cruz was expelled from the school for disciplinary problems. If he’s not a columbiner, I’ll eat my hat.

BuzzFeed also says there are teachers and students among the 17 dead.

UPDATE 5:25 PM CT: CNN is reporting that law enforcement sources say there are 16 dead.

USA Today Reports 17 are dead.

UPDATE 4:41 PM CT: The gunman has been identified as Nicolas Cruz, or Nikolas Cruz.

Heavy.com is reporting on Cruz’s social media activity, and guess what. He’s one of those tough guys that likes to pose with guns and knives. Seems like the alt-right type, too. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a columbiner too.

UPDATE 4:13 PM CT: CNN is reporting that there have been two fatalities and that the gunman is a former student.

While this is probably not the time, ABC is already touting Everytown’s inflated statistic of how there have allegedly been 18 school shootings so far this year. Just a few weeks ago, they said the number was 11. There have been three.

ABC is also reporting that the gunman is 18-years-old.

UPDATE 3:42 PM CT: Fatalities have been reported in the shooting, as US Senator Bill Nelson told MSNBC that there were multiple deaths at the scene. The number of injured has been lowered to 14 which makes me wonder if the fatalities are the six remaining victims who were previously reported injured.

Also of note, the gunman has been captured, but no other information about the shooter has been released.

This story is still developing, but what we know so far is there was an active shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Reports have varied from 20 to 50 wounded, but most sources say the number is closer to 20 than 50, but that could always change.

Frustratingly, the gunman is still at large.

While each shooting that has happened in schools so far this year have been serious, this has officially gotten ridiculous. At this rate, we’ll have at least 24 school shootings this year.
