You know, I’ve been giving Facebook too much of a free pass lately. While most online predators seem to be on apps like Kik and Snapchat, we can’t forget about good old Facebook.
For example, take 21-year-old Austin Ballew of Cherryville, Kansas. He recently pleaded guilty to five counts of sexually exploiting a child and three counts of sex trafficking of a minor. Ballew would pose as a black teenager to solicit minor girls for sex and explicit photos on Facebook. He would also offer them money and weed for explciit videos from his victims. He would also blackmail his victims into sending more images by threateneing to make the ones he already had public.
His sentencing is set for late March of 2020.
