On Dec. 6, Josiah Chris Reeder, 29, was charged in 4th District Court with five counts of lewdness involving a child, a class B misdemeanor. Two days later, he was charged with sodomy on a child and aggravated sex abuse of a child, first-degree felonies. On Dec. 16 he was charged with lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor, and was charged with the same crime in a separate case on Dec. 19.
But here’s what we’re interested in. Reeder, who is from Spanish Fork, Utah, reportedly told police that he had child porn on his phone and spoke with underage girls on the mobile messaging app Kik. If I had to hazard a guess he probably got his child porn from Kik too since they have an active community of child porn trading. Reeder is said to have also admitted to police that he had a ‘pornography addiction.’ That may just be an epic understatement all things considered.
Unless you want your kids talking to creeps like this, I would recommend making sure they stay off Kik. Otherwise, they will probably run into the many sex offenders, pedophiles, and child porn collectors that inhabit the platform.
