No matter how slick a marketplace app may look, most of them are just a craigslist clone in disguise and are just as dangerous. If you’re looking to do business through one of these apps or platforms, never meet the other person at your home or what they claim to be their home. Even meeting during the day with witnesses around will not stop some of these criminals.
I know now more than ever, community relationships with most police departments are strained to say the least. However, many police departments have dedicated areas to make transactions like this. It’s not 100% guaranteed that you still won’t be robbed or swindled but it will go a long way in discouraging criminals from trying.
