Texas man charged with soliciting teen on MocoSpace
Michael David Hernandez

It’s been a while since I last posted about MocoSpace. Back in the MySpace days, MocoSpace was a MySpace knockoff, then it evolved into a dating/chat/games app. Now, it just seems to be specifically a local dating app, basically, a MeetMe clone that has always been popular in Texas for some reason. The reason I haven’t written about MocoSpace in a while is that they changed their name to just Moco.

Anyway, police in San Antonio have arrested 29-year-old Michael David Hernandez for allegedly soliciting one of their officers for sex. The officer was posing as a 16-year-old girl on Moco. According to Moco’s terms of service, a user is supposed to be 18 in order to use the platform. However, I’m sure the age verification process is simply clicking a box that says you’re 18 or older.

At one point in the conversation, Hernandez requested to video chat, according to the affidavit, because he was “skeptical.”

“Who do you think? I really like you though and want you,” Hernandez allegedly told the officer.

This is not an app for kids by any stretch of the imagination. It’s just another hookup app. San Antonio police also say that it is often used johns to find prostitutes.
