Marshall County High School shooter scheduled to be sentenced today

If you want to catch up on the Marshall County School shooting from 2018 you can do so here. But to summarize, in 2018, then 15-year-old Gabe Parker shot and killed two students at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. He’s also accused of injuring over a dozen more. The students who died were 15-year-old Bailey Nicole Holt and 15-year-old Preston Ryan Cope.

Back in April, Parker pleaded guilty to murder charges. He is expected to be sentenced today at 1pm local time. Under Kentucky law, Parker can only be sentenced to life with the possibility of parole in 25 years. However, he is also looking at a 70-year sentence for assault charges which would run concurrently with the murder sentence.

Parker’s motive was that he allegedly wanted to see how students, police, and society would react to the shooting.

As soon as I receive word on his sentencing, I’ll have a new post published.
