31-year-old Ronnie Dexter Rosario Nagtalon of Smithfield, Utah was arrested and charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Nagtalon allegedly facilitated the transfer of cash from a Venmo account to a 15-year-old girl. The problem with that is the 15-year-old was a runaway and was selling explicit photos of herself on Snapchat.
Many adult actresses, models, and cam girls set up what’s called a Premium Snapchat. They charge anyone who’s willing to pay to access their Premium Snapchat account. While Snapchat says that nudity is against their terms of service it happens anyway. Anybody who gets their account banned can just open a new one under a new username.
Police were able to find the girl and she reportedly told police that she had Nagtalon get the money off of Venmo for her since she didn’t have a bank account or credit card. Nagtalon had also been taking a 20% cut for himself which means he was profiting from the sale of child porn. He was also said to have encouraged the girl to sell the photos on Snapchat.
There’s not much I can suggest to parents here since the girl was a runaway and I don’t know what her home life was like. The only thing I can think of is maybe if you have a kid who is getting money from someplace and they’re being cagey about where it’s coming from, it might be a good idea to start checking their social media accounts for activity like this.
