50-year-old Eddie Byrd was a high school teacher in Burke County, Georgia. He was arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female student in Richmond County. According to reports, Byrd would use Snapchat to solicit the girl for nude photos. It eventually got to the point where Byrd was said to be giving the girl vape supplies in exchange for a sex act.
Before we get back to the main story were kids promised cigarettes by creepers before the advent of vaping. Granted I’ve been writing this site for 20 years and that is an awfully long time, but for the life of me, I can’t remember a creeper offering smokes but I can recall a number of them who offer vape stuff. It’s probably just recency bias on my part.
Anyway, the girl told her parents after Byrd allegedly wanted more from the girl in the way of sex and the girl was scared.
Byrd has been charged with sexual assault, non-aggravated child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Again, I may be showing my age but teachers and students should never be friends on social media outside of school monitored resources. Know who your kids’ teachers are and know who is on your kids’ friends list on all of their social media accounts.
