19-year-old Julian Castleberry of Navarre, Florida was recently arrested for an incident that happened back in back in October. At the time, Castleberry was 18 and met an 11-year-old girl on Snapchat. This is the part where I remind parents that Snapchat’s terms of service dictate that users have to be 13 before using the service.
Anyway, Castleberry rode his bicycle to the girl’s house. I guess he couldn’t get his mom to drive him there. Once at the girl’s house, he allegedly climbed into the window before sexually assaulting the girl. He was even said to have told the girl “not to tell anyone what happens because it is very illegal.” No kidding.
I don’t know how many times I need to keep saying it but no 11-year-old needs to be on Snapchat or any other social media platform. Your kid may be mature and you may trust your kid but you can’t trust all the creeps that lurk on social media looking for victims. Also, consider instituting a no devices after bedtime rule in your home.
