Yesterday, I posted about Andy Banks. He’s the man from Raleigh, NC who is currently missing after leaving to sell a vehicle on craigslist. The vehicle has been found but sadly, Banks has still not been found.
However, an arrest has been made in connection with his disappearance. Police in Danville, Virginia have arrested 34-year-old Justin Fernando Merritt. Banks’ vehicle had been found abandoned in Danville. Merritt has been charged with robbery, larceny of motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. It is believed that Merritt is the man who allegedly stole Banks’ vehicle at gunpoint.
Merritt is currently back in North Carolina and is being held in Wake County Jail on a $265,000 bond.
Police in Raleigh are asking that the public contact them if they have any information into the whereabouts of Andy Banks.
UPDATE 9/17/2020: The body of a man believed to be Andy Banks has been found in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. The body still needs to be positively identified by the coroner in Roanoke, Virginia.
