Sorry, I’ve been gone for a while. You can blame the usual suspects and some unusual ones. However, this story made me get up off my ass.
If you’ve been following this story, former WWE champion Alberto Del Rio, whose real name is Jose A. Rodriguez Chucuan, was arrested back in May for allegedly sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend in his San Antonio home. I called the assault both brutal and sadistic.
Back in October, Del Rio was indicted meaning that a grand jury felt there was enough evidence to warrant a trial. A trial was, in fact, scheduled for next January.
That may not be the case anymore as charges may have been dropped against him. According to the wrestling gossip sites, known as dirt sheets, have said that the victim has posted an apology to Del Rio on her Instagram.
The apology, posted in Spanish says “An apology to the Rodriguez del Rio family for the damages caused by my mistakes.”

To make matters worse, Del Rio’s brother El Hijo de Dos Caras (The Son of Dos Caras) called the woman a ‘garbage person’ on his Facebook.
Now here’s the thing. I have yet to hear of charges being dropped from either a mainstream news site or from one of the two most reliable wrestling news sites. Those being PWInsider and The Wresting Observer. However, I will say that Ringside News did at least note that any information regarding the case has been removed from Bexar County’s website. So, until I hear it from a more reliable source, I’m only considering this a rumor.
Even if the charges have been officially dropped, something still seems rotten in the state of Texas. Del Rio has a reputation for being erratic and violent. There have been accusations of domestic violence in his past. Previously, the victim allegedly said that she was leaving the area because she was in fear for her life from Del Rio. What I’m getting at is that I wouldn’t put it past someone to have intimidated the victim into dropping the charges.
To me, there just seems to be too much evidence for this to be a case of a woman trying to get back at her boyfriend.
I grew up in a home where domestic violence happened regularly. Every time my father was arrested my mom would end up dropping the charges. She would run away with the kids only for my dad to find her again. So you’ll have to forgive me if I think the victim dropped the charges of her own free will.
