Viral post attributed to Atlanta shooter is fake

The above post has been circulating on social media and has been attributed to the Atlanta massage parlor shooter Robert Aaron Long. While it seems like something a hateful piece of shit that killed 8 people would post, he didn’t. It’s a fake.

This kind of trolling is nothing new. It seems like whenever there is a mass shooting that grabs national headlines, some miscreant will almost instinctively crawl out of one of the dark corners of the internet pretending to be the suspect.

To be fair, this is a masterful piece of trolling. I mean a lot of people are dead set on this anti-Asian hate crime narrative. This phony post was almost guaranteed to rile those who believe that was the motive for the killings. Don’t get me wrong. I realize that there’s currently a wave of anti-Asian violence due to the ignorant masses who think Asians are born with COVID-19. However, I don’t think that’s the case in these shootings.

I think it’s more of a case that Long went to these massage parlors and then blamed the massage parlors for his alleged sex addiction. No other Asian businesses were attacked, just massage parlors. It just happens to be that massage parlors are almost always staffed by Asian women.

Long deserves the death penalty or multiple life sentence, whichever you prefer. However, he should go there for the right reasons.

Remember kids, not everything on the internet is true. Especially if it’s on Facebook.
