33-year-old Robert David Fyke of Lubbock, Texas is accused of allegedly taking a 14-year-old girl from her home in Georgia back to his home in Lubbock, Texas. Fyke has been charged with sexual assault of a child and federal child porn charges.
Fyke is said to have met his victim on the mobile messaging app Kik in a chat group named “Age gap + 17.” Ew.
The girl had been reported missing, and law enforcement was able to trace the girl’s phone activity to Fyke’s home. However, by the time police were able to corral Fyke, the girl had already left him for a guy in another state. The girl has since been returned home. Keep in mind that whatever the girl’s actions were, she is a victim and I hope she gets the help that she needs.
But back to Fyke. Police say that Fyke tried the ‘she said she was 19’ defense, but later admitted to knowing her age during a polygraph test.
In case you haven’t heard, Kik is the preferred app of sex offenders, pedophiles, child porn collectors, and child traffickers. Just because it’s rated ‘Teen’ in the various app stores doesn’t mean it’s safe for your children. That is unless you’re ok with them disappearing for a month or more with some balding middle-age pervert.
