Former Palm Beach County School District counselor arrested on sex charges:

23-year-old Blake Freda is a former school counselor at New Horizons Elementary School in Wellington, Florida. He’s accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl he knew from his time at the school. She was 9 when they first met, later on, he got back in touch with her over MySpace. Don’t get ahead of me yet folks, I’ll get there.

He allegedly took the girl to movies and malls where the pair allegedly had sex.

The girl’s father grew suspicious and installed monitoring software on the girl’s computer where he learned of the improper relationship.

Ok, here’s the part you’re all waiting for.

While Freda should be strung up in the center of town by his boy parts, if the charges are true, why in the blue hell was a 12-year-old girl on MySpace. Secondly, why was she allowed to go out on ‘dates’ with this creeper? To me, that’s suspicious enough. If the father is savvy enough to install monitoring software on the computer he should have been well aware of the dangers of allowing his 12-year-old daughter to be on MySpace.

  1. Not to lessen what this creep did, but when are parents going to learn? I do have to tell you though, that about a year ago my youngest, who is 12 now, was on one of those kids game sites, cartoon network or something like that. He told me later that day that he had a new friend. I asked who, and he said a girl in some chat room. I said he wasn’t allowed to talk to people online and he said it was ok because she said she likes little boys. RED FLAG, right? Well, needless to say, he’s not allowed to go into any type of chat with anyone. But it was a wake up call for me, even though I consider myself very careful. He happened to be at my mom’s that particular day and she didn’t think anything of the kids’ sites. She felt awful. But it’s just a reminder that no sites are really safe, even if they are “just for kids”.

And by the way, Freda should be strung up.

  2. Yeah, even if a site’s touted as “kid-friendly”, it’s no substitute for parental awareness…glad you were able to catch that! Maybe if more parents monitored their kids’ online activities like this, there’d be fewer internet-related sex crimes.

  3. I’m glad I could catch it too, and am fortunate that my son, for the most part, is comfortable talking to me. Our family computer is in our living room and there is very limited access to it for the boys. They are not allowed to use it when we are not in the room. Of course, I know that they will sneak sometimes so we will just have to be super vigilant.
