Doctor says man who allegedly bit out sons eye not competent to stand trial, judge orders second opinion:

The headline kind of says it all doesn’t it?

This past week a psychiatrist testified that Angelo Mendoza is not competent enough to stand trial. Mendoza, as you’ll recall, is accused of blinding his 4-year-old son, Angelo Mendoza Jr., by biting his eyes out in an alleged PCP fueled rampage.

The prosecution requested a second opinion since the issue at hand was his non-psychiatric meds and the judge ordered that it be done.

Mendoza returns to court in late August after the next evaluation.

  1. I don’t know about being unfit for trial, but he sure as hell is unworthy of one. Just kill him and be done with it.

  2. According to the article, he may not have been on PCP, but in fact may have been acting like he was on PCP or something because he had GONE OFF HIS MEDS.

Which begs the question, WHY did he go off his meds??? Hello???

  3. I think that the ONLY reason to find this sack of shit not fit to stand trial for a 25 yr prison sentence is because he’s OBVIOUSLY so crazy that he needs to go to jail for 30 years.

  4. OK, so the defense argument will probably be the pig didn’t know what he was doing, didn’t actually DECIDE to bite his baby’s eyes. But hello! He DECIDED to go off his medication, the medication he KNEW he needed in order to function as a normal, mentally balanced person. So he IS responsible for that and all that came out of it, including the attack on his son.

I have to agree with Angel. This P.O.S isn’t worthy of a trial.

  5. People who suffer schizophrenia feel like they are in control while their meds are working. So, they think they are “cured” and no longer need them. So, then they have psychotic episodes and do stuff like this. IF people can be this dangerous OFF their meds, shouldn’t there be a program that MONITORS them and ensures they STAY ON THE DAMNED MEDICATION???

He’s responsible. Psychotic or not. He needs to stand trial.

  6. So does that mean that Angelo Mendoza Sr. might get a death penalty? Just asking.

  7. Another case of legal mumbo jumbo that drives me nuts. This is one of the most horrific things I have read in a long time. If they have proof that he did it, then I wish they could just skip the trial and send him away forever, end of story. I know we have laws and everyone is treated equal, etc. but this is just morally wrong. An innocent boy is forever blinded just because this guy wanted to do drugs? Think of that child, there really should not even have to be a trial. The victim always suffers.

  8. As I think I mentioned on the original story – I think someone should just arrange for daddy dearest to obtain a little PCP while he’s on solitary lockdown, and make sure there’s a sharpened axe in the cell with him, so he can finish the job he started on HIMSELF when nobody else is looking. No trial necessary – AND dead men don’t waste my tax dollars by requiring food and shelter. I’ll gladly donate the axe myself. 😀

  9. pak31, you are so right.

  10. Yeah, the story title says it all, so the guy get to go to a mental prison? Hope they tape his eyes shut the entire time he is there………..
