Odgren’s lawyers ask judge to reduce murder conviction:
The lawyers for John Odgren have requested that the judge throw out his first-degree murder conviction and reduce the charge to second-degree murder so he could be eligible for parole after 15 years.
Odgren was convicted of first-degree murder for stabbing James Alenson in the bathroom of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Massachusetts.
Odgren’s attorney tried arguing that Odgren couldn’t be held accountable for his own actions because he had Asperger’s. As I’ve argued before Asperger’s does not make you a killer.
These kinds of requests are rarely successful but not unheard of.
If this request is granted it would be a slap in the face to the family who lost a son too soon to a violent killer.
