I couldn’t decide if I should start this post with ‘For fuck’s sake’, ‘You’ve got to be shitting me’, or ‘Are you serious?’, so you get all three.
54-year-old Colin Gray is the father of 14-year-old Colt Gray. Gray, the younger, was the shooter behind Wednesday’s school shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia.
In my previous post about the shooting, I speculated that the gun belonged to Colin Gray, was not secured, and Colt Gray was able to easily access the ‘AR-platform-style weapon’. Instead, it seems we have our first school shooting rerun.
Colin Gray was arrested yesterday and charged with four counts of manslaughter. Let me know when this starts to sound familiar. It’s alleged that not only did Colin Gray allow his son to have access to the gun, but he bought the gun for his son as a gift in December of last year.
Gray, the elder, now seems like someone who looked at all the goings-on of the school shooting at Oxford High in Michigan, and thought to himself, “Yeah, this seems like a good idea.”
If you’ll recall, James and Jennifer Crumbley, bought their son, Ethan Crumbley, the semi-automatic handgun that was used in the Oxford shooting that left four dead. The prosecution in that case was groundbreaking because both parents had been charged with manslaughter. Both were convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison with the possibility of parole in ten.
Speaking of the Crumbleys, it seems home life for Colt Gray wasn’t much better than it was for Ethan Crumbley. Colt Gray’s mother had been previously arrested on domestic violence charges in 2023. The mother was court-ordered to have no contact with Colin Gray, except through a third party on matters that involved the children or a divorce. Colt Gray chose to stay with his father, while two other children went with their mother.
Wednesday was the full first day of school for Colt Gray, as this was to be his first year at Apalachee High. So what could possibly motivate this youngster into committing mass murder after less than a day of school? Would you believe me if I told you he was a school shooting fan?
I can’t confirm he was a columbiner per se, but investigators claim Colt Gray had an unhealthy fascination with the Parkland shooting. Sadly, this isn’t the first instance of someone being a fan of the Parkland shooter, as he would receive fan mail in jail while awaiting trial.
One of Colt Gray’s relatives took to social media, claiming that Gray was begging for help with mental health issues and that the adults in his life failed him. You can say that again. Oh, you’re having mental health struggles, son? Here’s a gun. That will make everything better. Jesus, I bet he even named his son after a gun. If he had twins, would he have named them Smith and Wesson?
This kind of gun obsession borders on cult-like behavior. Then again, I bet the Venn diagram between ‘responsible gun owners™’ like this, and those who kneel at the altar of the convicted tangerine-tinged sex pest is almost a complete circle.
CORRECTION: Colin Gray has actually been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children.
