Perry High School principal dies from wounds sustained in shooting

Fred Rogers, of Mister Rogers fame, once famously said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'” Dan Marburger was one of those helpers.

Marburger was the principal of Perry High School in Iowa when a 17-year-old student opened fire in the school earlier this month. Reports indicate Marburger didn’t hesitate to put himself between the shooter and his students. He is said to have tried to talk the shooter down and distract him while more students were able to escape.

After the shooter had taken his own life, Marburger was reported as one of the many wounded in the shooting. As you may recall, 11-year-old Ahmir Jolliff was the lone fatality the day of the shooting. Sadly, this past Sunday, Dan Marburger died from his injuries. Again, another fruitful life that’s been lost to the whims of an egocentric fool for the sake of internet clout.

Dan Marburger was the principal of Perry High School since 1995. If you’d like to support his family in this trying time, please consider donating to their GoFundMe.
