Port St. Lucie man found naked in 12-year-old’s room met her on MySpace, police say:

That is 18-year-old Barrington Benjimen Smith Jr. of Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was arrested after he was found naked in the bedroom of a 12-year-old girl. Allegedly he met the girl over MySpace and when she told him his age he said…

“Wow, that is young,” Smith is quoted as saying. “That will make you better in bed.”

The girl let him in through her bedroom window but Smith was busted when the girl’s 14-year-old cousin busted through the locked door. Smith allegedly took off naked through the window. That must have been an awkward trip home.

Smith allegedly did touch the girl inappropriately.

Again, what is wrong with girls in your own age group? And again what was a 12-year-old doing on MySpace unsupervised?

  1. Kudos for the 14-year old cousin.

  2. I think parents should have access to the sites the kids use on the net-all of them. It’s not control freakish, invading privacy or over protective. They are KIDS and need to be supervised. Otherwise, things like this can happen. I access my kids pages more than he does and he doesn’t even care, because he’s not hiding anything. I tell him if he has pending friend requests and stuff. Nothing wrong with it at all.

  3. I agree, Lori. Anything that goes on in my house, or on my computer, I will be privy to, or privileges will be suspended. My kids don’t care, either. Like you said, if they have nothing to hide, then there shouldn’t be any objections. Even when my 20 year old comes home to visit from college, she knows that should I want to, I will look in her bags or purse. She has no problem with that. And before any of you “Everybody needs privacy” people sandbag me, let me ask you a question…..What do you think would happen if my kid came home with drugs in her bag, and someone outside the family (who might be holding a grudge against me for some reason), found out, and called the cops to report it? Right. My house, my drugs, my other kids get taken. Not in my lifetime, Jack!

I have no reason to believe that any of my children would ever put me in such a compromising position, but they still understand my reasons for keeping tabs on what goes on in my house. Same thing for the computer. If one of my kids ‘accidentally’ downloads something from a website that might be illegal, I am the one who will be held responsible. Again, not in my lifetime. I reserve the right to know everything that comes into or goes out of my house, by way of the door, the window, or the computer. End of rant.

  4. Must be a bad ass little girl to let a grown man in her bedroom to bang her.. and a stupid ass man who think he can just walk in peoples house and get away with it.

  5. Angel and Lori-

I agree with you 100%. It’s the parent’s job to protect their children and monitoring their internet activity is what you have to do to protect them nowadays. If I had children, you’d better believe I’d know what sites they were visiting and who their friends are. I’d try to be as good of parents as you two are, letting my child know that it’s ok to talk to me about their friends and what’s going on in their lives so they wouldn’t think they’d have to hide anything.

There’s far too many people out there who would want to hurt your kids. You have to monitor them.

  6. Wel that lil gurl musta ben real hot at twelve bt he shoulda knew better n its myspace he cuda tried 2 kill her bt he killd her with sumin else! Bt yeah her parents need to tighten up seriously

  7. Was that even English, Stacy? Could you try to translate that for those of us who don’t speak ‘Idiot’? Thanks.

  8. What’s wrong with some of you people (Stacey and Max Mouse respectively) that you would make these types of comments about the girl? She’s freaking twelve. She’s not, she’s not bad ass. She’s twelve, vulnerable and obviously not rocking out in the common sense department.

  9. I’m sorry. That should read: She’s not *hot, she’s not badass etc…
