22-year-old Juan Luis Rosales of Jordan, Minnesota was recently arrested for allegedly sharing child porn over the mobile messaging app Kik.
Usual story here. The NCMEC received a tip that child porn was being shared on Kik by a user in Jordan. Minnesota authorities narrowed the search down to Rosales. Investigators say that they found Rosales to be in possession of 18 videos depicting child pornography.
As you may know, I get a kick (no pun intended) out of the ways that creeps use to try to get out of trouble with police. This guy is no excpetion.
Rosales allegedly told police that he only used Kik to trade in adult images. Considering Kik is full of sex offenders, pedophiles, child porn collectors, and child traffickers I highly doubt that. Then he is said to have told police that he was sent the child porn images unsolicited, then shared them ‘by mistake’.
He is then said to have admitted to police that he’s been collecting child porn for eight years before changing the time to eight months.
Whether it was eight years or eight months, here we have another young man in his early 20s trading in child porn. Have there always been child porn collectors who were in their 20s or is this a fairly new trend brought on with the dawn of social media?
