School gun report for the week of 12/10/23-12/16/23: Parent paralyzed after pursuing potential school shooter

12/11/23: A 30-year-old Denver man was shot and paralyzed after he witnessed a teen with a gun trying to enter his son’s school. He tried talking the teen into giving up his gun, but instead the teen fled. The man gave chase on foot, but the teen turned around and fired on the man, striking him four times.

A lot of people will look at this story and blame the man for his current condition. What would you do if you were the only person who saw someone enter your kid’s school with a gun?

What we should be more concerned with is that the teen had a gun in the first place.

An arrest has been made, but Denver police are not commenting on the current investigation.

A loaded gun was found at Round Top Elementary School in Richland County, South Carolina. The gun was found in the teachers’ workroom after school hours. The gun belonged to a school security guard. Way to go, Barney Fife.

Again, there’s nothing like putting guns as close as possible to potential school shooters.

Headline: Texas superintendents say lack of school safety funding may lead to budget cuts

That’s a great idea. Let’s take more money away from schools because of Texas’ bullshit rules about armed guards in every school.

12/13/23: Headline: Weapon-detection system coming to these 7 Orange County schools

FTA: All students and visitors will be subject to screening as they enter campus prior to the start of school and during regular school hours, the district said.

I hope these are small schools because for weapon detectors to be most effective, people need to be screened one at a time. Otherwise, guns will get through.

Headline: Despite funding cut, Uvalde maintains mental health services following school shooting

FTA: Following the Uvalde massacre last May, state funds and federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds provided support and therapy services at no cost. But those funds will expire in May of 2024.

The ‘responsible gun owners™’ keep saying it’s a mental health issue and not a gun issue, but fuck you if you can’t get over a tragedy like Uvalde in two years.
