Late in November, 19-year-old Victoria Gabriela Rodríguez-Morales of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, was indicted for allegedly making threats against the community of Uvalde, Texas. As I’m sure you know, Uvalde is home to Robb Elementary School, where one of the worst school shootings in America happened. Police in Uvalde failed to act while 18-year-old Salvador Ramos slaughtered innocents.

Rodríguez-Morales allegedly claims to be the ex-girlfriend of Salvador Ramos and said as much in one of her online threats…

“Me and Salvador wanted to do this together but he don’t wait for me to come,” she allegedly wrote in Instagram messages in June, according to a criminal complaint. “Anyways more kids will die and teens so don’t cry about this one cause there’s worse coming.”

“Each and every single one of y’all will die in the name of Salvador”

Among other threats, Rodríguez-Morales called the victims of the Uvalde shooting as “little losers souls” and prayed they would burn in hell.

This kind of adoration for a mass shooter is not unheard of. In the wake of Columbine, there were scores of teenage girls who claimed to be the girlfriend of Eric Harris. After the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, the gunman, James Holmes, garnered a number of female fans who referred to themselves as ‘Holmies‘. Even the Parkland school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, received scores of ‘love letters’ while awaiting trial. Earlier this year, a would-be school shooter claimed he accidentally met Salvador Ramos before the Uvalde shooting.

However, Rodríguez-Morales’ claim may not be as far-fetched as it seems. For starters, she used to live in the Uvalde area and attended school there. Secondly, she’s been making online threats to the community since at least 2018. She was remanded to a juvenile detention facility, and her family moved to Puerto Rico after her 2020 release. Even with the move, the threats against Uvalde continued.

Then again, as far as I can tell, none of the threats mentioned Ramos until after the shooting took place, meaning she could be just another attention-seeking bullshit artist.

Rodríguez-Morales has been indicted by a federal jury for making thirteen interstate threats between May and October 2023. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years a piece, for a total of 65 years.

While the me of yesteryear would say she deserves those 65 years, now, I’m not so sure. In my opinion, it seems like she’s more in need of psychiatric care than jail time, but that’s easier said than done these days. However, this is her second go around with the legal system over threats, so she may already be too far gone.
