Guilty Verdict, Life Sentence in Craigslist Car Ad Murder:
You can officially add 20-year-old Dao Xiong as one of the ever-expanding list of craigslist killers. Last week Xiong was convicted in the shooting death of Youa Lor in St. Elmo, Minnesota.
Mr. Lor was selling a 2003 Nissan 350Z on craigslist and was shot and killed by Xiong in order to sell the stolen car for parts. During the trial, Xiong’s lawyer tried arguing that the shooting was an accident but the jury wasn’t having any of it. Not only was he convicted but he was also sentenced to life without parole.
While murder is actually very rare when conducting business on craigslist it happens way too often for craigslist to ignore it. When you have a free unmoderated site it’s only a matter of time before criminal activity becomes the norm.
